HONDA ANNOUNCES NEW TRAILSPORT VERSIONS FOR OFF-ROAD DRIVING

Honda this week announced the arrival of new versions dubbed Trailsport this fall. These versions will be offered on Honda models equipped with the performance torque-vectoring i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system and will be designed to tackle off-road driving with confidence.

Specifically, the first Trailsport models will have distinctive visual elements both inside and out including:

  • Exclusive front and rear bumpers
  • Off-road cladding
  • Orange stitching inside
  • Floor mats that are easier to wash

Eventually, Honda says the models could have even more distinctive touches including sturdier off-road tires, a full-size spare tire, beefier suspension, underbody skid plates, and more.

It is not yet clear which Honda models will have a Trailsport version, but we can already doubt that the Honda Ridgeline and the Honda Passport, the two most capable models in off-road driving from Honda, will have their Trailsport version. It is likely that the Honda CR-V, Honda Pilot and Honda HR-V will also have a Trailsport model eventually.

"TrailSport represents the next chapter in our rugged direction and will bring exclusive styling to our existing light trucks that will appeal to buyers seeking adventure,” said Dave Gardner, executive vice president of National Operations at American Honda. “Our U.S. engineering team is leveraging more than 20 years of experience creating highly capable light trucks to develop this new series of adventure-ready vehicles.”
