March 17, 2016 - The Hanover Honda Midget rep team finished their three game sweep last night in Lucknow against a previously undefeated-in-the-playoffs Sepoys squad.

After a commanding 7-2  home victory in game one of the series,  where Hanover scored 5 goals in the third period, the Gulls flew to Lucknow for the next two challenges, which proved to be a little closer on the scoreboard. Game two saw your Hanover squad play flat, and head into the third period trailing 3-2.  With a refocused effort, Hanover managed to rally and secure a 5-3 win.

Last night's game was a game of end to end play, with few mistakes being made by either squad, in a somewhat safe style of play.  Period one ended scoreless, then late in the second, the Sepoys were able to take the go ahead on a nice deflection.  The Gulls found themselves in a series typical position - down by one going into the third. 15 seconds into the frame, Hanover let a clapper go from the blue line, cleanly beating the Lucknow keeper and tying the game at one.  Shortly after, Hanover took the lead, only to have Lucknow tie it up with just 4 minutes left in the third.

With a refocused effort, the Gulls buried one more, then another, then the empty netter to clinch a 5-2 victory. Your Hanover Midget Rep team this year has been phenomenal.  A very well disciplined, focused team, that played .731 hockey.  24 wins on the year, a tournament win, a strong OMHA playoff and now the WOAA champs.   The coaching staff is honoured and proud to have been a part of this season.
